jpnn.comJAKARTA – Coordinator of the Indonesian Democracy Defense Team (TPDI) Petrus Selestinus SH responded to the many parties who urged the Corruption Eradication Committee (KPK) to open a new investigation into Bobby and Kahiyang regarding their roles in the alleged corruption case involving mining business permits (IUP) in North Maluku (Malut).
According to him, the demand for the KPK to immediately follow up on the facts in the corruption trial of the former Governor of North Maluku, Abdul Ghani Kasuba, who mentioned the names of President Joko Widodo’s son-in-law and son, is very legally justified.
However, the Corruption Eradication Committee is suspected of covering up Bobby and Kahiyang’s role in the case popularly known as the Medan Block.
According to Petrus, because in the trial, the KPK Public Prosecutor (JPU) Andi Lesmana had revealed the term Medan Block in the examination of witness Suryanto Andili, Head of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) of North Maluku Province for the defendant AGK, so that the fact was obtained that the term Medan Block was a description of the management of the Nickel IUP in North Halmahera Regency, North Maluku, which was given to Bobby Nasution’s family.
“Witness Suryanto’s statement has been clarified and confirmed by the defendant AGK that the Nickel IUP was given to Kahiyang Ayu, which was later more popularly known as the Medan Block,” said Petrus in Jakarta, Tuesday (13/8/2024).
Another fact that is also important to investigate, said Petrus, is about the meeting in Medan, North Sumatra, between AGK and his team with Bobby Nasution, whether it was held before the Nickel IUP was given to Kahiyang Ayu or after the Nickel IUP was signed by the North Maluku Provincial Government.
“The meeting in Medan is important for the KPK to investigate because it concerns the issue of the motive for the meeting between two officials who both hold strategic positions on the one hand, and the alleged spread of KKN (corruption, collusion and nepotism) among officials within the Palace on the other hand,” explained Petrus, who is also the Coordinator of the Nusantara Advocates Movement (Perekat).
“However, Bobby and Kahiyang are part of Jokowi’s political dynasty which is suspected of having nepotism in the granting of the Nickel IUP and whatever was discussed in Medan between AGK and Bobby at that time,” he added.
TPDI Coordinator Petrus Selestinus SH responded to the pressure on the KPK to develop the case by opening a new investigation into Bobby and Kahiyang.
