The Seimas adopted amendments to the Packaging and Packaging Waste Management, Environmental Protection Laws and Code of Administrative Misdemeanors, which from 2025 May 1st it was agreed to ban the free distribution of food and drink disposable plastic products, such as disposable plates, coffee cups, etc., in public catering places.

“We gave up plastic straws a long time ago, and by 2030 we will aim to replace all our packaging with fully recyclable ones. In recent years, it has been possible to reduce the need for disposable towels, and some gas stations have already introduced reusable towels.
We also encourage all our employees and customers to ditch single-use cups. For several years now, we have been giving an additional discount to all customers who pour their hot drinks into their own reusable cup instead of a disposable one at the gas station,” says the interviewer.
The network of gas stations reveals a positive change in consumer behavior: customers are increasingly coming to gas stations with reusable cups.
“In the first half of this year alone, more coffee was poured into reusable cups than in the entire year of 2023. This year we have already sold more than 270 thousand. coffee cups without disposable packaging”, says I. Galinienė.
Special cup washing stations are installed near the coffee machines at gas stations, and customers who come to the gas station without their own cup can purchase a reusable cup on the spot.
