The credit for popularizing the horror-comedy genre in the true sense goes to ‘Stree’, but when the makers have to make a sequel to their own successful and iconic horror-comedy, the challenge is tough. Obviously, the filmmaker has to create such a fictional world that scares while making you laugh and makes you laugh while scaring. But when the audience becomes a part of that world and starts getting scared and laughing, then understand that the fort is conquered. Director Amar Kaushik has not missed a single thing in this matter of scaring and making people laugh. In ‘Stree 2’, along with the charm of the characters of Part One, some shocking characters have been added. This time the combination of comedy and horror is no less deadly.

Story of ‘Stree 2’

Talking about the story, fans of ‘Stree’ know that in part one, Stree kidnapped men, but this time a new terrifying demon Sarkata enters the story. Sarkata attacks women and kidnaps them. The story begins from the same Chanderi village, where till yesterday people were terrified of Stree, but now it is written on the walls, ‘O Stree Raksha Karna’. For the time being everything is going well in the village, when one day suddenly Sarkata wreaks havoc and takes away Bittu’s (Aparshakti Khurana) girlfriend Chitti. Bikki (Rajkummar Rao) is still waiting for that anonymous mysterious girl (Shraddha Kapoor), but one day Rudra gets torn pages of Chanderi Purana through a letter, which leads to the conclusion that Sarkata can be traced with the help of Jana (Abhishek Banerjee) who lives in Delhi.

Meanwhile, the mysterious girl Shraddha has also returned to Chanderi, but when Sarkata kidnaps Rudra’s dancer girlfriend Shama (Tamannaah Bhatia) and controls many men of the village, including Bittu, and imposes restrictions on women’s freedom, Rudra, Shraddha, Bikki and Jana then gear up to kill Sarkata. Can this quartet destroy Sarkata? Can the girls kidnapped from the village be saved from Sarkata’s clutches? Can Bikki find his love this time? You will get answers to all these questions in the film.

Review of ‘Stree 2’:

Director Amar Kaushik makes the first half of the story a lot of fun. From the entry of the giant monster to the terror of all the characters and the comedy arising from that fear, it presents a strong dose of entertainment, but in the second half the story becomes a little average. The kind of world and visuals that have been presented in the film regarding the destruction of the monster and his empire, VFX has been used very well. The entry of Akshay Kumar along with Varun Dhawan in the climax not only adds to the entertainment quotient, but also hints at the combination of woman-wolf in this universe of horror-comedy. In this sequel, director Amar Kaushik also talks about the issue of women’s freedom in an entertaining way. Yes, the end seems a little stretched. However, if we talk about music, songs like Aayi Nayi, Khoobsurat and Aaj Ki Raat are already being liked by music lovers. Yes, the background music could have been better.

The acting of the actors in ‘Stree 2’ and the twist in the climax

The acting aspect proves to be top notch in every way. The entire cast of the film has brought the horror-comedy alive through their characters. Rajkumar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor as Bikki once again enrich the film with their roles. Rajkumar’s desi accent and body language make you laugh a lot. Shraddha Kapoor looks very beautiful and strong. Her scenes facing the demon have become very lively. She has acted through her eyes. The director should have given her more screen time. Pankaj Tripathi shines brightly as Rudra, his one-liners tickle you a lot, while Abhishek Banerjee in the role of Jana makes you laugh out loud. Aparshakti Khurana has given a memorable performance. Tamannaah Bhatia is very good in the item song, ‘Aaj Ki Raat’. Akshay Kumar as the surprise package does wonders in his short presence.

Why watch -This is the perfect entertainer for the entire family this long weekend.
