In 2020, Bah Oury participated in one or two FNDC demonstrations, of which he claimed to be a full member. And when civil society actors were arrested and imprisoned, he spoke out and publicly condemned these acts.

Against the regime of President Alpha Condรฉ, he had openly called for popular insurrection. Under the regime of General Lansana Contรฉ, he was one of the main instigators of the student demonstrations of the 1990s.

Guineans even joined forces with him in good faith to create the first human rights organization. That was a very long time ago.

Today, Guineans are discovering a completely different character, that of the traitor, the impostor. At the time when he made subversive speeches against previous regimes and clearly called for terrorism, he did not speak of public power. He had to change status by becoming Prime Minister of the Transitional Government so that he could show what he had always hidden from Guineans.

His new position is not surprising. A military junta as ferocious as the CNRD nebula does not choose its collaborators at random. They must be predisposed to become co-authors of all its dirty work. They must be able to explain and even justify the crimes committed by their bosses.

Bah Oury has subscribed to this logic. And he is unfortunately not alone in this shameful attitude. He couldn’t care less about his honor and that of his offspring. What matters to him is the moment T. Some Guineans were far from thinking that a Bah Oury would have compromised himself with killers like Mamadi Doumbouya and his acolytes, this, for questions of ego and especially for purely material and financial reasons. It is true that for several years, he has been living in total destitution like many political actors who choose to campaign in the opposition, his very home reflected this misery.

But is this enough to explain why he suddenly renounces the principles he claimed to defend, why he throws into the trash the image that Guineans had of him? The answer is probably no.

When we are truly imbued with certain values, we do not abandon them according to circumstances.
