Apple may start charging up to $20 a month for some Apple Intelligence features in iPhone, iPad, and Mac. However, as 9to5Mac writes, citing the latest Power On newsletter from an insider and Bloomberg correspondent, this will not happen for at least three years, Day.Az reports, citing Gazeta.ru.
At the recent WWDC conference, Apple introduced the first set of Apple Intelligence features, including updated Siri, Genmoji, Image Playground, and many other features integrated into Apple’s standard apps. While these features have been praised, they mostly work on users’ devices. Given that Apple is still lagging behind in the AI race, the decision was made not to charge for such basic features.
Mark Gurman suggests that Apple will continue to develop more advanced Apple Intelligence features and only after they are enabled will it start charging for the service. However, in his opinion, it will take at least three years to develop such features. Thus, Apple Intelligence users may not worry about additional costs in the near future, the expert believes.
Apple Intelligence is an artificial intelligence platform developed by Apple. It was announced on June 10, 2024, at WWDC 2024 as part of Apple’s iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia operating systems. Apple Intelligence will be free for all users of supported devices. The full release of the platform for all users will take place in 2025.
