In response to a central question on “the results of the 2022 tourist season”, during the oral question session at the House of Advisors, Ms. Ammor stressed that the Kingdom managed to recover nearly 84% of tourists during the past year compared to 2019, noting that this level exceeds the global recovery rate by 20%.

He added that tourist revenues in foreign currency stood at 81.7 billion dirhams (MMDH) at the end of November, i.e. a recovery rate of 112%, affirming that this result is due to the wise approach adopted by the Kingdom in managing the health crisis, under the visionary leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, which has strengthened Morocco’s credibility at the international level.

These good performances are also the result of the support provided by the State within the framework of the emergency plan to support the tourism sector, in addition to the process of promotion and marketing, guarantee of flights to Morocco, and the full involvement of professionals and other partners, added Ms. Ammor.

Furthermore, the Minister stressed that the Kingdom has experienced unprecedented influence thanks to the historic feat of the national team at the Qatar 2022 World Cup, noting, in this context, more than 17 million searches for the word “Morocco” recorded on search engines and more than 180 million interactions on social networks, while the normal average for the year is around 500,000, which will have a positive impact on the tourism sector.

She also indicated that this feat has made it possible to create new markets for the destination Morocco, such as the United States of America, Brazil, Argentina, the Middle East, and sub-Saharan Africa, noting that the ministry is working to concretely convert this unprecedented global interest into tourist arrivals.

Regarding domestic tourism, Ms. Amour indicated that the recovery rate exceeds 101% compared to 2019, noting that the number of tourist nights increased to 7.9 million, i.e. +27% compared to 2021 and +1% compared to 2019.
