Microsoft has released its August patch for Windows 10 and 11. The company has also eliminated some critical security vulnerabilities.

As always on the second Tuesday of the month, Microsoft has once again released a patch for its Windows 10 and 11 operating systems. According to the “Zero Day Initiative”, which deals with software vulnerabilities, 90 security holes have been closed.

The vulnerabilities affect all Windows users and are found in components of the operating system, parts of the Office application and the Visual Studio development environment. Vulnerabilities are also said to have been closed in the Teams communications software.

“Of the patches released today, seven are classified as critical, 79 as important and one as moderate,” reports the “Zero Day Initiative”. This is not the largest update for its operating systems that Microsoft has released to date, it says. But it is unusual for so many errors to be listed as public or already actively exploited in a single version.

Users of both versions of Windows will receive the August update automatically when they start their computer. The prerequisite is that users have activated automated updates in the system settings. You can find out how to activate and deactivate automatic updates here.

The update can also be downloaded and installed manually. To start the update manually, click on the Windows icon and enter the search term “Updates” in the search bar.

Now select the option “Check for updates”. If updates are available, they will be downloaded and installed.
