For London and Rabat, security in the Middle East depends on the two-state solution (British Minister of State)

Rabat – The United Kingdom and Morocco unanimously agree that peace and security in the Middle East require a two-state solution, said on Wednesday in Rabat, the British Minister of State for the Middle East, North Africa, South Asia and the United Nations, Lord Tariq Ahmad of Wimbledon.

The United Kingdom and Morocco believe that the ultimate goal must be a two-state solution, with an Israeli state living side by side with a Palestinian state in peace and security, Lord Tariq Ahmad told reporters after a meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Abroad Nasser Bourita.

He said Rabat and London “will work together in this direction”, with their key partners, notably the United States and the Gulf countries, while acknowledging that “this is a difficult period, but we must never lose hope”.

The British minister mentioned, in the same context, “the humanitarian tragedy in Gaza”, specifying that Morocco and the United Kingdom will work together to find a solution to this situation.

He also noted that the ties between the United Kingdom and Morocco “are stronger than they have ever been”, specifying that they “are based not only on mutual trust”, but also on the weight represented by the two Kingdoms.

He noted that the two countries are working on several issues of common interest.
