Libreville, August 14, 2024 (AGP) – By chairing, this Wednesday, a meeting of the High Council of the Judiciary, focused on the functioning of the courts and the management of the careers of magistrates, the President of the Transition, General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, invited Gabonese magistrates to fully play their role, reports a press release from the Gabonese Presidency received by the AGP.

While welcoming the efforts, determination and will of certain magistrates in the accomplishment of their missions, the Head of State nevertheless wanted to challenge them on the numerous complaints from the populations and economic operators against the decisions rendered by the latter.

“I am pleased to emphasize that the justice that you exercise daily must be a factor of economic and social development. It must reassure our citizens, in whose name it is rendered, and lead them as a regulator of life in society towards the happiness desired by our ancestors. It must also reassure businessmen and not frighten them,” said the President of the High Council of the Judiciary.

Welcoming the decisions taken during the last High Council of the Judiciary ruling on disciplinary matters which imposed exemplary sanctions against certain magistrates, the President of the Republic also called on the Inspector General of Judicial Services and the permanent secretariat of the CSM to play their role fully.
