From September, AADE inspectors are preparing to block toll roads, national roads and ports, with special license plate scanners, in order to detect vehicles that, although they have been “immobilized”, are circulating on the roads.

Controls will be carried out following the issuance of a control order or following electronic crossings by the AADE, by extracting data from the highway concessionaires, while the competent control bodies will be able to locate vehicles that, while they have been declared stationary, are found to be in circulation or have been in circulation, through special mobile application for license plate scanning.

On-site tracking

Thus, inspectors with portable scanners will be able to locate on the spot the vehicles circulating on the roads that have been declared to AADE to be stationary, but of course also the vehicles that will be found to be parked in a different place from the that which was declared in the statement of immovable property.

It is worth noting that the offenders will be faced with a “severe” fine, which amounts to 10,000 euros, in addition to the traffic fees and the non-payment fine, while in the case of a repeat offense within five years, the fine is tripled and deducted for three years the driver’s license of the owner or possessor of the vehicle.

It is pointed out that the administrative fine is imposed on the owner or owner of the vehicle and in the case of co-owners, on the co-owner who initially submitted the request to immobilize the vehicle. The fine is imposed by the AADE and against the act of imposing the fine an appeal is allowed, in accordance with the Code of Administrative Procedure, while the competent department of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport is informed about the removal of the diploma.

Vehicle owners should also be aware that when a vehicle that is stationary is to be deleted from the Vehicle Registry of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, due to its delivery for total destruction with recycling at the specially authorized centers or for the purpose of its export, the immobility is not lifted, and its traffic information, license and registration number plates, are forwarded by the competent service of the tax administration, at the request of the owner or owner thereof, to the competent Directorate of Infrastructure and Transport of the relevant Region or delivered by him the owner or owner of the vehicle to be deleted, as long as the traffic data is in his possession due to the vehicle being stationary electronically.

In any case, a vehicle will not be deleted from the Vehicle Register, due to its export, re-export or transport outside the country, as long as the due traffic taxes and fines are not previously paid by its last owner or owner and its export is not confirmed, its re-export or transfer out of the country.
