In accordance with the LKF statutes, the LKF member women’s basketball club “Neptūnas-Amberton” of Klaipėda submitted a candidacy.
“I am not satisfied with the current situation of Lithuanian basketball – the lack of a sports idea and direction, sports results and the club basketball system. While other countries have been rapidly rising to the top, it seems that we have stopped somewhere. While communicating with the basketball community and business representatives, I realized that they are also not satisfied with the activities of the current federation’s leaders, therefore, with their support and trust, I made the decision to run for LKF president, – said 44-year-old Javtokas. – I come with a great desire to unite the entire basketball community and business, because I am sure that the Lithuanian Basketball Federation should not be in the hands of one person. Today we are not where we were, but I believe that there is very little left to get back there.
Before taking this position, I first want to assemble a strong team with competent and experienced people who will allow to achieve the best possible result for the benefit of Lithuanian basketball. At the same time, communicating with the basketball community, we will try to identify the fundamental problems of our sport and solve them step by step.
In the last three years, I have gained invaluable additional experience in the business sector and I look at everything with even more different eyes. I have dedicated almost my entire life to this sport, so I will try to inspire every member of my team with my sincere dedication and work ethic.”
In the current election phase, the former sports director of Kaunas “Žalgiris” presented the future LKF vice-presidents and team members.
