A new book has been published in Japan as part of a project to publish the sheet music of the outstanding Azerbaijani composer Gara Garayev.
As reported to Day.Az on Friday by the State Committee for Work with Diaspora, the composer’s works for piano were published by the local music publishing house “Zen-On”.
The book includes piano miniatures for children and other works created by the composer. Methodological recommendations for the works were developed by pianist Gulnara Safarova and included in the music book in Japanese and English. The methodological recommendations of the Azerbaijani musician were first given in a music book published in Japan.
In 2025, events such as a presentation of a sheet music book, a concert, a lecture on Gara Garayev’s music, and open lessons are planned. Work is also underway to include Gara Garayev’s works in the program of the Japan Young Performers Competition.
It should be noted that in 2023, with the support of the State Committee for Work with Diaspora of Azerbaijan, two music books by Gara Garayev were presented to Japanese music lovers, including the scores of his ballets “Seven Beauties” and “Don Quixote”. The preface to the books in Japanese and English was written by the composer’s son Faraj Garayev.
