jpnn.comJAKARTA – Deputy Secretary General (Wasekjen) of the PDI Perjuangan Yoseph Aryo Adhi Dharmo said that his political party is open to nominating candidates from among retired TNI members in the 2024 regional elections.

He said this after attending the announcement of the Prospective Regional Head or Deputy Regional Head Candidates from the PDI Perjuangan at his party office, Jalan Diponegoro, Central Jakarta, Wednesday (14/8).

“This is a manifestation of the party’s commitment to guarding the Republic of Indonesia intact as always reminded by the General Chairwoman, Mrs. Megawati. Mrs. Mega does not want the Republic of Indonesia, which is only 79 years old, to be messed with,” said Adhi, Wednesday.

It is known that the PDI Perjuangan on Wednesday announced that four retired TNI officers would be supported in the 2024 simultaneous regional elections.

They are Lieutenant General TNI (ret.) Joppy Onnes who was supported in the Southwest Papua Regional Election, Lieutenant General TNI (ret.) Eddy Rahmayadi who was supported in the North Sumatra Regional Election, Lieutenant General TNI (ret.) Jeffry Rawaharin in the Maluku Regional Election, and Major General TNI (ret.) Sulaiman Agusto, in the Central Sulawesi Regional Election.

The media crew asked Adhi about the possibility of other retired military personnel being nominated by the PDI Perjuangan because the name of former TNI Commander Andika Perkasa was mentioned as being nominated in a province.

Adhi asked all parties to be patient regarding the announcement of the candidates to be announced by PDI Perjuangan because it is the prerogative of party chair Megawati Soekarnoputri.

“Later, other regional head candidates will be announced by the General Chairwoman, Mrs. Megawati Soekarnoputri in due course,” he said. (ast/jpnn)
