It is true that America has a say in the world. One of its decisions can even shake the world economy. The people of this country, which has been known as the most influential and powerful country for decades, also feel very proud of being American. Things related to its culture are adopted all over the world and India too is not untouched by it. However, there are some things of our beloved country, which we should not only feel proud of, but even the Americans should learn from us in these matters.

These are the qualities that Americans are often surprised to see and why not? Because all this seems impossible to happen in their country. Although the list of these qualities is very long, but here we have brought some selected specialties for you. (American flag photo courtesy: Pexels)

For us marriage is not a contract

In our country, we take seven vows and seven rounds. In different religions, husband and wife enter into the bond of marriage in different ways and vow to support each other for life. Be it sorrow or happiness, they face it together.

For us, neither marriage is a contract nor divorce is an easy option that can be used on a small issue. And yes, even today we believe more in connecting hearts than pre-natal.

Living with parents is not embarrassing

You have grown up, got a job but still you live with your parents? How embarrassing. This kind of thinking is very common in American culture. But in our country India, this is not a matter of shame but a matter of pride.

And as Aishwarya Rai said in response to the taunt of an American talk show host, ‘We Indians don’t have to make an appointment to have dinner with our parents like you guys do’. So yes, we live with our parents even after we grow up, and this gives us immense happiness and comfort.

We don’t leave our old parents to fend for themselves

In a culture where a child is asked to leave home as soon as he attains adulthood, how can a child feel a deep bond with his parents? That is why in America people get themselves admitted to old age homes because they know that no one is going to take care of them. But in our India, the situation is different.

Not just old parents, in our country every junior member takes care of grandparents and other elder members of the family in the same way as he was taken care of in his childhood. That is, from providing everything that makes life easier to taking complete care of their health, he takes responsibility for everything.

We don’t have to make an appointment to meet our loved ones

We gave the example of parents above, but the truth is that in India, no relative needs to take any special appointment to meet his/her loved ones. Rather, whether it is maternal uncle’s house or uncle’s or aunt’s house, people reach everywhere with full rights. This is family. Which is nurtured not by formalities but by love and affection.

Our guests never go back hungry

There is a culture where visitors are hardly asked for even water, and there is our Indian culture where even father’s office colleague is served tea and snacks when he comes home. And if it is found out that the guest is hungry or he has come at meal time, then he is sent back only after feeding him.

We don’t talk to elders in a rude manner or by using their names

Even though English is spoken all over the world and is commonly used in the US, do they have words other than Sir and Madam that show respect? The answer is no.

There, whether it is an 80-year-old person or a small child, people talk to them in a rude manner or by calling them by name. But all the languages of our rich Indian culture are full of such words that show respect. And everyone is taught about this from a young age.

This is why we always maintain a boundary that reduces the risk of the language we use hurting someone’s self-esteem.
