jpnn.comJAKARTA – The East Java Golkar DPD has officially declared its support for Bahlil Lahadalia as a candidate for General Chair of the Golkar Party for the 2024-2029 period.
Chairman of the Golkar DPD East Java (Jatim) Sarmuji said that support for Bahlil came after holding a meeting with the DPD of regencies/cities throughout East Java. As a result, 38 DPD II Golkar throughout East Java solidly gave support to Bahlil.
“Earlier I had a meeting with the heads of regencies and cities throughout East Java. All of them unanimously support Bahlil as the candidate for Golkar General Chair,” said Sarmuji in his statement, Saturday (17/8/2024).
According to the Deputy Chairman of Commission VI of the DPR, the support of the DPD throughout East Java for Bahlil is because they want regeneration in the party with the banyan tree symbol.
“It is time for a generational shift in the Golkar Party. The seniors are making way for the emergence of a new generation in the Golkar Party,” he said.
Furthermore, Sarmuji said that Golkar in Bahlil’s hands would have a different leadership style from his previous seniors.
Bahlil, said Sarmuji, is like a son of the people leading an elite party.
“Bahlil’s style is very different from other Golkar leaders. With all due respect to previous leaders, Bahlil’s style will give Golkar a different look. He will be ‘a child of the people leading an elite party’,” he said.
