A mobile consulate for Moroccans in Scotland
Edinburgh – The Consulate General of Morocco in London organised a mobile consulate in Edinburgh on Saturday, in order to bring consular services closer to Moroccans residing in Scotland.
The consular team’s visit was an opportunity to provide members of the Moroccan community in Scotland with all the services available in London, while saving them a laborious journey of almost 700 kilometres.
The community members, who went to the Edinburgh International Conference Centre, were also able to take advantage of a multitude of banking services, thanks to the presence of representatives from three Moroccan banks on site. They also expressed their great satisfaction at being able to reconnect with this type of initiative.
In a statement to MAP, the Moroccan consul general in London, Khalid El Moujadidi, indicated that “this is a trip that is in high demand by our compatriots in Scotland, who are forced to travel a very long distance to be able to access consular services.”
Recalling that attempts to organize consular trips to Scotland in recent years have been thwarted by the Covid-19 pandemic, the consul indicated that “a significant number” of Moroccans have benefited from this mobile consulate.
