The Superior Court of Justice of Oaxaca disqualified the judge Jose Gabriel Ramirez for possible acts of corruption during the performance of his duties and for illegal conduct, after granting the release of the former deputy on August 14, Juan Antonio Vera Carrizal.

Vera is accused of attempted femicide against saxophonist María Elena Ríos Ortiz.

However, Judge María Antonieta Esteva Domínguez ordered that Juan Antonio Vera Carrizal remain or return to preventive detention for the crime of attempted femicide.

The sentence issued today by the judge of the oral court, which also includes Rubén Loaeza Charrez, was therefore revoked.

Today and through her X account, the Mexican saxophonist María Elena Ríos revealed that the judge in charge of her case for attempted femicide, decided to acquit her aggressor Juan Antonio Vera Carrizal, so the accused will be released, this after determining that the evidence provided failed to prove the guilt of the person involved.

“This Court considers that the social representation, with the evidence provided, failed to overturn the presumption of innocence enjoyed by the accused and as a result I have decided to acquit,” said the judge.

Through social media, the saxophonist expressed her outrage that Judge José Gabriel Ramírez Montaño only needed 20 minutes to release her attacker, and so she described the action as “impunity.”

“It took this corrupt judge José Gabriel Ramírez Montaño 20 minutes to make his decision. This is Oaxaca, this is the impunity experienced by women who fight for justice,” she said.
