Coinciding with the end of the Doha negotiations without a ceasefire declaration, the Israeli Broadcasting Authority claimed that it had quoted security officials, “that the Israeli army’s operations in the Gaza Strip have ended ‘in general’, and the security establishment has informed the political leadership that the time has come for an exchange deal.”

“Israel can re-enter Gaza when new intelligence information becomes available,” the agency said, adding that “the Israeli army has informed decision-makers that Hamas’s Rafah Brigade has been neutralized and is almost non-existent.”

The Qatari Al Jazeera channel quoted a “leading source” in Hamas as saying that “the mediators informed the movement of the results of the Doha talks to cease fire in Gaza.”

The source added that “Hamas” has confirmed once again that the occupation does not want an agreement and continues to evade and obstruct and insists on adding new conditions to obstruct the agreement.

The source continued, “The new American proposal responds to the occupation’s conditions and is consistent with them, and we affirm our commitment to what we agreed to on July 2, which is based on (US President Joe) Biden’s declaration and the Security Council resolution.”

He stressed that “any agreement must include “stopping the aggression, withdrawing from the Gaza Strip, providing urgent relief, and reaching a real deal to exchange prisoners.”

A round of negotiations for a ceasefire in Gaza ended in Doha, which lasted for two days without reaching a final agreement. It ended with the United States, Egypt and Qatar issuing a joint statement indicating that the talks will resume in Cairo before the end of next week based on the conditions presented in the Doha talks.

The number of people killed in the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, has risen to more than 40,005 dead and 92,401 wounded.
