PM Modi wrote on the social media platform X that Professor Muhammad Yunus, advisor to the government in Bangladesh, spoke to me over the phone. They exchanged views on the current situation. PM Modi further wrote that Mohammad Yunus reiterated India’s support for a democratic, stable, peaceful and progressive Bangladesh. He assured the safety, security and safety of Hindus and all minorities in Bangladesh. This is the first time after the formation of the interim government in Bangladesh that the top leadership of the country has talked to the top leadership of India.

Yunus took oath on 8 August

Violence against Hindu community increased in Bangladesh

Violence against members of the Hindu community has increased in Bangladesh after the fall of the Sheikh Hasina-led government. Hasina resigned as Prime Minister and came to India on August 5 after widespread protests against her government over the controversial reservation system in jobs. The International Crimes Tribunal of Bangladesh has started investigating charges of genocide and crimes against humanity against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and nine others. These allegations against Hasina are related to the incidents that took place during the massive movement of students against her government between July 15 and August 5.
