From August 26, the Dārzciem post office will stop working, from September 10 – the Torņakalna post office, from October 11 – the Pļavnieku post office, and from October 30 – the Dole post office.
The post office informs that the existing clients of the Torņakalnas post office will be served by the Āgenskalns post office at Mārupes iela 6 and the Ziepniekkalns post office at Dižozolu iela 21, while the services of the Purvciema post office at Vaidavas iela and the Deglava iela post office will be provided to customers of the Dārţciema post office.
Customers of the Pļavnieku post office will also be served at the Deglava street post office in the future, while the closest to Dole post office visitors will be the Ķengaraga post office at Prūšu street 2.
From now on, 25 post offices in densely populated neighborhoods will be available to customers in Riga, including six of them in shopping centers.
There are currently 98 “Latvijas pasta” parcel boxes available in Riga, but five more parcel boxes are planned to be placed by the end of the year.
“Latvijas pasts”, evaluating changes in the coverage of post offices, complies with the requirements of the universal postal service (UPP) for a certain number of post offices in a specific territory, which is determined by the population. In Riga, 25 post offices are needed to receive a full-fledged service, according to the post office.
LETA has already reported that “Latvijas pasts” will close 12 post offices in Cēsis, Jelgava, Jūrmala, Liepāja, Ogre, Riga and Valmiera, where there are more post offices than the requirements of UPP. 155 post offices will be preserved in Latvia.
The closure of the respective post offices will take place gradually until the end of this year, informing residents about the future possibilities to receive postal and financial services, as well as about the nearest post office.
The turnover of “Latvijas pasta” last year was 108.269 million euros, which is 8.3% more than in 2022, while the company’s profit decreased 4.1 times – to 538,646 euros.
“Latvijas pasts” ensures the availability of postal services throughout the territory of Latvia. The company provides domestic and international deliveries, from e-commerce and parcel shipments to press, letter correspondence and personalized logistics solutions. “Latvijas pasts” is a company fully owned by the state, which employs about 2,200 employees.
