Ghat Emergency Room spokesman Hassan Issa denied the existence of any deaths or injuries in Tahala as a result of the floods so far, stressing that Ghat Hospital received only one case of a scorpion sting.

Issa explained in a statement to Al-Ahrar that the Al-Khamasin neighborhood in the Tahala area witnessed an almost complete displacement of citizens due to the floods, adding that the floods in the area stopped and that the water level witnessed a decline in the neighborhoods that were flooded with water.

The emergency room spokesman pointed out that the municipalities of Ghat and Al-Barak did not witness any floods, except for the suburbs of Ghat, which witnessed light floods towards the areas overlooking Mount Akakus, according to him.

For his part, the mayor of Tahala, Ahmed Kleikli, said that the floods swept through the entire municipality, confirming that there were no human losses.

Kleikli appealed to the government and the responsible authorities to provide blankets and aid to the families displaced from their homes, pointing out that communications have been cut off and they cannot reach the displaced, and that the floods in the municipality are still the same.

The Dean of Tahala pointed out that the governments had contacted them to provide support, but the municipality had not received any support so far, according to him.

For his part, the member of the House of Representatives for the city of Ghat, Nasr Youssef, described the Tahala area as a disaster area after the floods it was exposed to.

Youssef said in a statement to Al-Ahrar that the region needs urgent assistance, especially in the field of communications and electricity, which has been completely cut off from the city.

Youssef pointed out that this is the first wave of floods and that there is fear that what is coming will be worse after increasing expectations that indicate the possibility of rain falling again in the region.

The MP added that the only available means of accessing the city is via Ghat Airport due to the damage to the road caused by the floods.

Youssef called for expediting the provision of aid to citizens, especially those who were displaced from their homes in the municipality of Tahala.
