Santo Domingo – According to a statement issued today by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Dominican Republic, during the audience granted to him by the President of the Dominican Republic, Mr. Luis Abinader, instructed the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Abroad, Mr. Nasser Bourita, to convey to His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, “the firm support of the Dominican Republic for Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara and the intention to consider as a priority in future expansion plans, the opening of a consulate in the city of Dakhla.”
Mr. Abinader also reaffirmed that the Dominican Republic “considers the autonomy plan, proposed by Morocco, as the only solution to the dispute over the Sahara,” the statement said.
During this audience, which took place at the National Palace, on the sidelines of the investiture ceremony of the President of the Dominican Republic, representing His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, Mr. Bourita conveyed to President Abinader the congratulations of His Majesty the King and His wishes for success in his new mandate, the Press Release continues.

On this occasion, President Abinader stressed his desire to strengthen bilateral relations in all areas and his intention to pay a visit to Morocco at the invitation of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the statement said.
