The plot of the film Everyone is Fine at Home: a showcase of neurotic and narcissistic characters in true Muccino style
The story of Everyone is Fine at Home begins with the golden wedding anniversary of the couple Alba and Pietro, who live on an island in a beautiful villa. For the occasion, they decide to bring the family together and organize a lunch for everyone. Everyone will be there: the children, Paolo, Carlo, and Sara, the grandchildren, and in-laws. The two retirees can’t wait to embrace their loved ones, certain that they will spend joyful, pleasant, and fun hours together.
The lunch in honor of the grandparents proceeds smoothly, though there will be jabs and suggestive comments among the guests. By the end of the day, the guests find themselves forced to extend their stay on the island, as a strong storm suspends the ferry service. This unexpected and forced coexistence will become the opportunity to express their emotions, finally unleashing things left unsaid. There will be a clash of feelings, jealousy, envy, and hidden betrayals: Riccardo admits to being in deep debt and asks his cousins if he can work again at the family restaurant, Paolo is separated and travels the world, while Isabella finally confesses that she is going through a marital crisis.
The situation becomes dramatic when Carlo, who has a failed marriage behind him with Elettra, after another argument with his current wife Ginevra, attempts to kill her. Sara is married to Diego, but their marriage is not working. Paolo, repudiated by his wife for too many betrayals, even starts a romantic relationship with his cousin. Riccardo will have a child with Luana and once again asks Uncle Pietro for help. On her part, Elettra tries to contend with the jealousy of Isabella and Ginevra.
The night will be long and complicated.
