Adriana Ruano dedicates words to Guatemala for its support in Paris 2024

The president of Guatemala recognized the medal winner, Bernardo Arevalo,in honor in front of the National Palace where all the athletes of the country who participated in the Paris Olympics in 2024 were also awarded.

“It is a true honor to be here today, with all my family. I lived one of the most beautiful and valuable experiences of my life. I had the privilege to represent Guatemala in Paris 2024. I will not I forgot the welcome they gave us, thank you all”, were some of the words of the Guatemalan woman.

“I returned on August 14, very honored and very grateful to have the privilege to represent at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. When I returned, the reception was full of joy, affection, every expression of affection we received and they gave. I was something I will never forget and will forever be engraved in my life. Thank you very much,” he said.

Ruano also mentioned the obstacles it has faced since its inception. “Since I started this path, 25 years ago, I always believed that this dream would be possible, but I knew it would not be easy. There were times when I thought of ending the Olympic dream, but with constant effort and work I knew I could achieve the highest despite the difficulties,โ€ he said.

“These medals are the biggest goals we had as a team, I think, and we can happily say today: we achieved it.

Ruano said that she did not achieve the feat, but herself for all the people who went with her. “I want to thank, first of all, God, who was my guide, my strength, and who gave me the necessary tools to be able to manage a good competition in Paris,” he said .

The Guatemalan also thanked her family, which she described as “her driving force and unconditional support”, as well as her multidisciplinary team (coach, psychologists, nutritionists), the sports leaders, her colleagues in the delegation, and all Guatemalans. “This medal belongs to all of you,” he said.

Adriana did not miss the opportunity the other two Olympic medalists ERick Barrondo and Jean Pierre Brol. “I want to specially mention Erick Barrondo; as the first Olympic medalist in history, he invited us to dream that everything is possible. And to my partner Jean Pierre Brol, who won a bronze medal the day before. We showed that Guatemala can go far,” he said.

The tribute is marked by the affection and gratitude of hundreds of Guatemalans who saw the athletes as an example to follow, and a source of pride for Guatemala.

The Paris 2024 medalists led the flag raising at the tribute ceremony in the Historic Center in Zone 1 of Guatemala City.
