New Delhi: The uproar over the sensational case of rape and murder of a female doctor in Kolkata does not seem to stop. In protest against this incident, the Indian Medical Association (IMA) has called for a strike in all government and private hospitals across the country on Saturday. Although emergency services will continue, OPD services will remain closed. In such a situation, the difficulties of patients coming to the hospital may increase. There is a possibility of postponing operations scheduled earlier in hospitals. After the violence at RG Kar Hospital in Kolkata on Wednesday night, the Federation of Resident Doctors Association, India (FORDA) also decided to resume its nationwide strike.

IMA strike

The Indian Medical Association (IMA) raised questions on the incident of brutality against a female doctor in Kolkata and then vandalism in the hospital. IMA condemned this heinous crime and said that it is the government’s responsibility to ensure the safety of doctors. They said that during the strike on Saturday, they will protest for demands like justice for the dead lady doctor, central law for the safety of doctors and declaring hospitals as safe zones.

Patients will face increased problems

IMA Action Committee Chairman Dr. Vinay Agarwal said that we demand that the woman doctor who was murdered should get justice. A central law should be made to protect doctors from violence and hospitals should be declared safe zones. He also condemned the vandalism at the Kolkata hospital. Meanwhile, after the violence at RG Kar Hospital on Wednesday night, the Federation of Resident Doctors’ Association (FORDA) India resumed its nationwide strike. Earlier, it had withdrawn it after a meeting with Union Health Minister JP Nadda.
