Following these words, Esteban Caldentey filed a complaint against Daniella Campos for slander, while the courts dismissed the claim that the now TV panelist had suffered abuse.

The Fourth Guarantee Court of Santiago convicted Daniella Campos for libel against her ex-husband Esteban Caldentey, whom she accused of domestic violence in a television interview.

In a statement to Podemos Hablar, The former model said that her relationship with Caldentey came to an end “due to an issue of domestic violence that was very difficult for me to accept. It was very difficult for me to understand it. In fact, it was a psychologist who made me understand what I was going through, because one begins to lose consciousness in time and eventually does not understand what is happening to them or is not able to realize it, and as a result of that psychological process, I understood what was happening to me.”

Following these words, Esteban Caldentey filed a complaint against Daniella Campos for slander, while the courts dismissed the claim that the now TV panelist had suffered abuse.

The ruling states that the testimonies collected “have shown the court a highly unstable relationship, under the auspices of a marriage contract, with no capacity for dialogue, where the defendant – according to the multiple accounts heard – has difficulty coping with opinions, facts or circumstances that she does not like or that in some way affect her decisions, no matter how inconsequential they may be. Based on the testimonies, it can be established that the defendant had, in the family relationship, at least, difficulty in dealing with statements or actions that she perceived as diverse or aggressive, deploying – at those times – verbal or physical maneuvers of defense and attack.

For the court, the evidence showed that Campos has “a highly variable, unstable personality, and can fluctuate in a short period of time from a good mood to anger.”

This is why the Fourth Guarantee Court sentenced her to 30 days in prison and a fine of one third of a Monthly Tax Unit for the completed crime of slander.

In light of this, the plaintiff’s lawyer, Claudio González, told T13 that “we are very satisfied with the outcome of the trial, since it has been established that Mr. Caldentey has never used physical, psychological, economic or other violence against Ms. Campos.which in some way serves to improve his honor and public image, so damaged by these insulting remarks.”
