Panathinaikos ultimately failed to overcome the obstacle of Ajax, with the “greens” now continuing in the third-tier European competition.
In the Conference League playoffs, they will face French Lens. The first match of this tie will be held on August 22, at the home ground of the League One team. The second match will take place at OAKA on the 29th of the same month.
Lens was founded in 1906 and its home ground is “Bollaert”, which has a capacity of 38,000 spectators. In its 118 years of history, it counts one championship in 1998 and the League Cup in 1999. Last season, they finished seventh in the French league, which granted them the coveted European ticket.
The coach of Lens is 31-year-old Belgian Will Still, who took over the team recently on July 1. As for this year’s roster, the French side features some important names, such as 25-year-old Austrian center-back Kevin Danso and 25-year-old Argentine defender Facundo Medina, whose estimated value is around 25 million, as well as 30-year-old French-Congolese goalkeeper Bryse Samba, whose estimated value amounts to 15 million.
