90% of freight in Spain is transported by road. However, according to statistics by the National Federation of Transport Associations (Fenadismer), in 10 years a third of active drivers will have retired, indicating a potential crisis in the sector, which has proven to have bargaining power.

To reduce this effect, the Spanish subsidiary of the Human manufacturer launched a program to “encourage equality and diversity, helping dozens of women to board the bus with scholarships that reduce the cost of obtaining a license.”

Despite the fact that driving a truck is much easier than three decades ago – the systems are automated and there is no more physical energy required than driving a car – women still represent only 2% of the total number of active transporters in the country.

There are currently around 30,000 unfilled jobs in Spain – a figure that will rise to 745,000 across Europe in the next five years – which means job security. Today, only 5% of drivers are under the age of 25.

The man has been running his WoMAN program for years, through which he covers 70% of the costs of obtaining a license, either C for rigidi or E for elaborative, as well as the Certificate of Professional Aptitude. 40 of them have already gone through the initiative, which culminates in a safe and efficient driving course.

According to the statement of the company, “it is about finding new ways of disruption and support groups that are traditionally representative, such as women, that being behind the wheel of a truck is still very rare.”

Andalusia is the autonomous region that controls the number of women who have received both cards with 33% of E and 19% of C. In the first category, a total of 47,756 permits were issued, of which 13,174 were for women. Valencia (27.8%), Canary Islands (8.6%) and Murcia (8.6%) appear below.

Regarding C card, DGT issued 21,963, of which 1,746 were for women. Catalonia (10.6%), Valencia (10.4%), Galicia (9.7%), Castilla La Mancha (6.4%), Balearic Islands (6.3%) and Madrid (6.1%) are regions that exceed a hundred licenses.
