Highlights of the week
August 12 Australian Alexey Popyrin defeated Russian Andrey Rubliov 6:2, 6:4 in the Canadian Open Tennis Championship (ATP 1000) men’s final in Montreal. 25-year-old A. Popyrins won the third title. August 18 Danish Jonas Vingegaard (Visma) became the winner of Tour de Pologna multi-day cycling race (UCI World Tour), Italian Diego Ulissi (Emirates) took second place, Dutchman Wilco Kelderman (Visma) took third place. 27-year-old J. Vingegaard won the sixth multi-day race of the UCI World Tour.
August 18 Katarzyna Niewiadoma (Canyon) from Poland won the Tour de France Femmes multi-day cycling race, Demi Vollering (SD Worx) from the Netherlands took the second place, Pauliena Rooijakkers (Fenix) from the Netherlands took the third place. 29-year-old K. Niewiadoma became the winner of the big multi-day cycling race for the first time.
