An invention from South Africa could make vacations by the sea much more relaxed: the technology is supposed to keep sharks off beaches.
The barrier is called SharkSafe and consists of iron tubes that protrude from the sea floor to the surface. They contain magnets. “These are charged 24/7 and don’t need to be activated first,” says marine biologist Sara Andreotti, senior executive at SharkSafe Barrier.
