In the height of the summer season, the traffic between the interior of the country and the Black Sea coast is very busy. On Fridays, columns are formed towards our seaside resorts, and in the late afternoon and evening hours of Sunday towards the interior of the country.
Already at the exit of Sofia, a police patrol monitors the traffic and stops for inspection drivers who are seen making sudden maneuvers.
When checking one of them, the breathalyzer reported 0 ppm of alcohol, but the report showed that the driver had outstanding electronic tickets for speeding.
Traveling on the highway, drivers in a hurry can’t wait to overtake the column in the active lane and, although dangerous, and at a short distance, they undertake to overtake one or two cars on the right and risk hitting them.
“We observe two types of conscious and unconscious mistakes by drivers. The unconscious ones are those due to inexperience, unawareness of danger, health problem, fatigue, we are still at the end of the highway. The conscious ones are the use of alcohol, drugs, speeding ” explained Insp. Plamen Nikolov, head of the “Road Police” department – ODMVR-Burgas.
One of the busiest sections of the highway is from the 104th to the 140th kilometer near Plovdiv. In this part, the traffic police undertake the so-called “line control”, as a patrol car moves in traffic and stops violators and aggressive drivers. A lookup by truck number indicates that there is a problem.
“The reason we are stopping you is that the car has not passed a technical inspection for the year 2024. This is the reason for the stop, there is no other reason.”
The truck was diverted to a highway parking lot, where it was stopped from traffic and fined. Linear traffic control is also applied in the last section from Karnobat to Burgas, targeting aggressive drivers.
Teams of the “Road Police” regulate the traffic at the road junction at the exit of Burgas towards the “Meden Rudnik” district and the southern resorts of Primorsko, Kiten, Ahtopol. In Sozopol, uniformed officers carry out increased checks for driving after the use of alcohol and drugs, writes BNT.
