Just one day after their success in the first round of the DFB Cup, Borussia Dortmund suffered an embarrassing defeat – despite fielding a top-class line-up.
A very painful defeat for Borussia Dortmund. What’s more: BVB suffered a major embarrassment on Sunday – but at least it was only in a friendly match behind closed doors. But the new Dortmund coach Nuri Sahin will certainly not have been pleased with his team’s performance. In a secret friendly match at the BVB youth center in Brackel, the Black and Yellows lost 4-0 – against third division team SC Verl.
Although Sahin has made major changes to the team compared to the 4-1 win in the first round of the DFB Cup on Saturday against Phönix Lübeck, according to “Ruhr Nachrichten”, big names such as new signing Maxi Beier, Ramy Bensebaini, Sébastien Haller, Donyell Malen, Felix Nmecha, Salih Özcan, Giovanni Reyna and new signing Yan Couto were still in the starting eleven.
Also explosive: Striker Youssoufa Moukoko, who actually wants to leave BVB, was on the bench according to “Sport1”. The 19-year-old is said to be about to move to Real Betis in Spain (read more about this here).
