Napoli coach Antonio Conte apologized to the club’s fans after his players lost 3-0 away to Verona in the Italian league.
“We allowed Verona to have their shot at the beginning of the second half, then we couldn’t get back into the game,” Conte told Sky Sports Italia, quoted by BTA.
“Then we melted like snow in the sun. I want to apologize to the supporters of the club who follow us with such passion. I am the coach and it is right that I take all the responsibility,” he added.
Conte also stated that a lot of work will be needed to get Napoli up to the standard they are aiming for.
“It was a performance that shows we have to work hard in every aspect. I came to Napoli with a lot of enthusiasm, with a lot of desire. If I can help the club, I will,” added the coach, for whom it was official debut at the head of the team.
The 55-year-old specialist commented that he could look for additional reinforcements to the team before the transfer window closes.
“One, two, three, four players can appear on the market, as many as the club wants to sign. You have to face the problems head on, and they are not easy to solve,” concluded Conte.
