The Swedish furniture manufacturer Ikea has revised its app. The company is also launching a bonus program.
Loyalty bonus and redesigned app: Ikea has announced numerous innovations that are intended to simplify shopping in the furniture stores.
From September 4, customers of the Swedish company will be able to collect points with their family card. According to Ikea, these can be converted into vouchers to have furniture delivered at a lower price, to pay for food in the company’s restaurants or to receive discounts on other items.
The system works like the so-called loyalty discounts in supermarkets or other retailers. According to Ikea, points can be collected when shopping, among other things. Points will also be awarded for saving shopping lists in the app.
Speaking of the app: The furniture retailer’s mobile application has been redesigned. According to Ikea, there is a new user interface and personalized content based on the user’s search and purchase history.
The manufacturer also says it has built a new navigation mode into the app. This should help customers “find their way around the furniture store even better”. “With a map and augmented reality, you can get straight to the product you want,” it says.
The company has not only updated its app, but also the way in which Ikea furniture is assembled, as was announced a few days ago. The furniture is to be assembled exclusively using plug-in connections. The parts also no longer come individually, but folded together “like a construction sheet”.
The piece of furniture is simply unfolded at home and put together using special connectors. This is intended to drastically reduce time and effort. For the basic version of the popular “Pax” wardrobe model, the working time is said to be reduced from one hour to 20 minutes. In addition, only one person is needed instead of two, it is said.
