A month from the elections in Venezuelacarried out on July 28, Nicolas Maduro announced that it will create a World Congress Against Fascism.

The current president of Venezuela announced on Monday, August 19, that the congress would be held soon, although he did not specify who would join the initiative.

Preliminarily, Nicolás Maduro said that this “world congress against fascism” would be made up of artists, intellectuals, social leaders y political leaders from all continents.

Nicolás Maduro announced that his world congress “against the fascismneo-fascism and similar expressions” will have the objective of exchanging strategies to combat fascist positions.

“We are going to make Venezuela the world epicenter of the fight against fascism […]to nourish ourselves with ideas, proposals and fine-tune Venezuela’s strategies who are defending their right to live, to peace, to the future,” he said before leaders of the ruling United Socialist Party (PSUV).

Additionally, Nicolás Maduro announced that personalities from different countries and from all continents would be invited to this world congress against fascism, but without mentioning any particular guest.

However, it is expected that this congress against fascism will be attended by personalities as:

  • artists
  • social leaders
  • thinkers
  • intellectuals
  • political leaders

When will the world congress against fascism proposed by Nicolás Maduro take place?

According to Nicolás Maduro, the planned date for the world congress against fascism would be next month. October 18th of 2024.

The announcement comes just two days after Nicolás Maduro called for the law against fascism, neo-fascism and hate crimes to be passed “very quickly.”

This law promotes the sanctioning of those who promote acts of “violence” in the country, a product of “intolerance” on the part of sectors that it considers fascist.

On more than one occasion, Nicolás Maduro described the Democratic Unitary Platform (PUD)who accused him of holding fraudulent elections and stealing the presidency from their candidate, Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutia.
