A 34-year-old gave birth to a child on Sunday in Alberschwende (Bregenz district) in the family car. On the way to the Dornbirn hospital, the woman and her husband (41) realized that they would not be able to get to the hospital in time for the delivery. The 41-year-old then stopped the car in the parking lot of a private residence. The child was born before the rescue workers arrived and is doing well like the mother.

According to the police, the child was born “with the active participation of the child’s father”. The mother and the newborn – it is the couple’s second child – were taken to the hospital by ambulance.
When he stopped in the parking lot of the apartment building, the 41-year-old crashed his car into a resident’s vehicle. The resulting property damage was minor, the police said.
