It has been confirmed that New Future Assemblyman Kim Jong-min (Sejong Gap) has been indicted by the prosecution on charges of violating the Public Official Election Act.

According to the Sejong Election Commission and Rep. Kim’s office on the 20th, the Election Commission reported Rep. Kim, his chief accounting secretary, and his accounting secretary to the prosecution on the 13th on charges of election law-related donations, bribery and inducement of interests, illegal spending of election expenses, and violation of political fund expenditure principles.

They are accused of providing 40 million won in political funds while renting the Daepyeong-dong, Sejong City election office of Democratic Party candidate Noh Jong-yong for about two months during the last general election.

Rep. Kim’s side claims that the funds in question are in the name of “key money.” They also claim that they asked about this issue during the National Election Commission’s accounting officer training on March 13 and received a response that “there is no problem.”

On the other hand, the National Election Commission is known to suspect that it is in return for inheriting the network of candidate Roh, who was eliminated in the Democratic Party primary.

An official from Rep. Kim’s side bristled, saying, “I asked questions during the accounting manager training before the election and was told that there were no problems with routine transactions,” and “This time, when I was investigated by the National Election Commission for over three hours, I was told that I should have asked the person in charge of political funds.”

Rep. Kim also responded in a phone call with News 1 that day, saying, “It is unprecedented to report something that could have been done with guidance,” and “It is absurd to talk about the Democratic Party network.”

An official from the National Election Commission said, “It is true that we recently reported a candidate to the prosecution,” and added, “There is nothing more to officially confirm.”
