‘World Theme Travel – God’s Playground, Norway’ Part 2 ‘I Can’t Live Without Wheat’ will air on EBS1 TV today (20th) at 8:40 PM. Nordic expert writer Hong Min-jeong will join.

Have the gods come to visit the human world? This is Norway, a land filled with mysterious Norse mythology and amazing nature.

In search of the rock thrown by God, Sherak Bolton
Alesund, a city burning in midsummer
Atlantic Road, a dizzying road along the coastline
Trollstigen, the fairy ladder that you meet at 11 bends
Huite, a villa to go to for happiness

Head to southern Norway, where life blossoms in every rugged mountainous terrain, rugged coastline, and fjord valley!

7th in the world happiness index in 2023, Norwegians are looking for the secret to happiness. Most Norwegians who go on a summer vacation for more than a month spend their time in Hytte. Whether it is a forest, a lake, or the sea, wherever there is a beautiful view, there is always a Hytte, a villa. There are over 440,000 Hyttes in Norway alone, and they are usually privately owned and shared by families. Of course, there are also Hyttes that can be rented.

My Norwegian friend Asta reveals his favorite ‘how to use the hutte’. First, the traditional hutte in Gjerdrum near Oslo! There is no running water or electricity. I rent it when I want to be alone. I brew coffee with lake water and drink it, take a walk wherever my feet take me, and enjoy the ‘Norwegian Forest’ leisurely while grilling sausages, just like Asta did.

At Asta’s invitation, we go to the island of Frøya. A 10-minute boat ride from the island takes you to Laksholmen, a remote island with only a few fish. Asta’s family’s fish house is located there. It has a dishwasher, a large living room, and 5 rooms! It was built ‘custom-made’ for Asta’s large family of up to 17 people. A day spent with Asta’s maternal uncle’s family who were waiting for him! We go fishing and swimming in the sea and play in the embrace of nature without realizing how much time passes. Let’s make and eat fish cakes (Fiskekake), a traditional Norwegian dish, with the fish we caught that day and enjoy the midnight sun.

Throw away the stereotype that Wheat is in one place?! We go to Bergen to meet Stina’s family who are vacationing in a ‘moving Wheat’. We go on a trip in the ‘moving Wheat’ camper van that we waited a year for. Stina chose the camper van instead of the Wheat because she can have different experiences in new places at any time. She says she wants to give her young children more experiences. We join Stina’s family in their happy moments with the ‘moving Wheat’ at a campsite an hour away from Bergen.
