Officials from the governments of both countries held the seventh Political Consultation Meeting between Ecuador and Japan in Quito.
He Government of Japan has expressed its desire to increase trade and investment ties with Ecuadoras well as strengthening common positions such as the fight against climate crisis and the fight against transnational organized crime.
That was one of the main conclusions of the meeting held on Tuesday, July 16 in Quito delegations from both countries, headed by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ecuador, Jaime Barberand the Director General of the Department of Latin America and the Caribbean of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, Yasushi Noguchi.
It was the seventh Political Consultation Meeting between Ecuador and Japanin which both delegations maintained “a constructive dialogue to achieve common objectives and obtain beneficial results that contribute to the well-being of their people,” the Ecuadorian Foreign Ministry reported in a statement.
“Over more than a century of relations, we have collaborated closely in various fields, including trade, investment, education, science and technology,” Barberis said during the meeting.
He added that “the positive results of this close bilateral relationship have contributed significantly to the well-being of our peoples.”
For his part, Noguchi expressed his interest in increasing trade and investment ties with Ecuador, in addition to rescuing common positions in the multilateral arena, particularly respect for the principles of the Charter of the United Nations.
