Thuc Anh (nicknamed Kien) is the eldest daughter of People’s Artist Cong Ly. She graduated from Hanoi University of Theatre and Cinema, majoring in directing. In the past, Thuc Anh had a period of time when she “hated” her father because she felt that he did not care for her and abandoned her. Later, she understood everything, so father and daughter became closer.

Recent, daughter of justice has just attracted attention when making a documentary called “There is a constellation” about the journey of overcoming the father’s serious illness, which moved many people. It is known that, Thuc Anh She has been planning to make a film about “Dad Ly” since her first year of university, but it was not until her fourth year that she completed the 17-minute film, which she both directed and narrated.
Thuc Anh and Long Vu – Van Dung’s son (nicknamed Nhim at home) is a close friend. The two supported each other a lot during their studies at the Hanoi Academy of Theatre and Cinema. Thuc Anh shared with Dan Viet about this friend she loves very much.
Van Dung’s son stars in a movie directed by Cong Ly’s daughter
-It is known that Thuc Anh and Long Vu – son of artist Van Dung have a close friendship and often call each other by their nicknames at home. When did you two become close friends?
– Long Vu (also known as Nhim) and I are the same age, we have been friends since childhood, when we followed our parents to practice and perform in the “Meet at the weekend” program. However, we were too young at that time (probably 3-4 years old) so we didn’t have many memories of each other and lost contact for a while. When we went to university, because we went to the same school, Nhim took the initiative to connect with me, and we did our homework together. I helped Nhim with my theater homework, Nhim helped me act in the homework film that I directed, and from then on we became close friends.

-In Thuc Anh’s eyes, what kind of person is Long Vu?
– In my eyes, Long Vu is a very energetic friend. Long Vu can make people around him always feel happy because of his liveliness. In addition, Long Vu is also a passionate actor, not afraid of difficulties, not afraid of hardship, devoted to the work he pursues.
-Being close friends for 4 years in college, surely Thuc Anh and Long Vu have many memorable things?
– The most memorable thing for me was probably when I asked Long Vu to play the main role in my second year assignment film. At that time, Long Vu helped me from the idea stage, to acting, giving advice on the script, and even introducing the crew members to me. At that time, Long Vu filmed for me until he was so sick that he had to be hospitalized for IV, but when I asked if he would help again next time, Long Vu still agreed. It was also after that memory that I really appreciate this friend.
-Do you see many similarities between yourself and Long Vu?
– I think what Long Vu and I have in common is that we both want to create products that bring positive things to the audience. In addition, I think our starting point is the same when we both have parents who are artists, and the artistic blood has been ingrained in our souls since we were little boys and girls.

And now, when we decided to choose the artistic path to pursue for the rest of our lives, we all wanted to affirm ourselves to our parents as well as hope that everyone would recognize that we can stand on our own two feet without relying on our family.
-What does Thuc Anh think about Long Vu’s acting?
– I am very happy that Long Vu has recently received more attention and love through his roles. As someone who has witnessed Long Vu from small roles to where he is today, I know that Long Vu has had to go through many difficulties and efforts. I hope that Long Vu will always maintain his passion and have the opportunity to try more types of roles, because I know that Long Vu’s ability can go further.
-Thuc Anh, have you watched the movie “Di giua troi ruc ro” starring Long Vu as Chai – the main character of the movie and what do you think about your best friend’s performance in this movie?
– I find this a pretty cute and lively role, exactly the style that Long Vu wants to pursue. Long Vu has also put a lot of effort and expectations into it. However, I hope there will be more details for Long Vu to reveal more of his own abilities, to make more breakthroughs.

-Does Thuc Anh think that in the future, the movies Thuc Anh makes as the main director will invite her close friend Long Vu to play the main role?
– I think, if I have the opportunity to make a feature film, I will invite Long Vu to act so that we have more opportunities to work together because since the last film, Long Vu and I have not had the opportunity to work together again. I’m just afraid that in the future, Long Vu will become too famous and be too busy participating in many film projects, making it difficult to invite him (laughs).
Cong Ly’s daughter: Ms. Van Dung loves her father Ly very much.
-How does Thuc Anh perceive the relationship between Cong Ly’s father and Ms. Van Dung?
– I see that the relationship between Ly’s father and Ms. Van Dung is very good. Ms. Van Dung often gives her father advice about work, advises him to take on more programs to have money to cover living expenses and raise the children. When interacting with Ms. Van Dung, I see that she loves her father very much, loves each other like family, so I feel extremely appreciative of that feeling.

-Since Cong Ly’s father got sick, did Thuc Anh often visit him and each time he did, what did he usually tell Thuc Anh?
– Sometimes, I still go with Tit (Gia Bao – son of People’s Artist Cong Ly and MC Thao Van) to visit my father. Every time we meet, the three of us mainly talk about daily things, update each other on our life situation and future plans. My father doesn’t give us much advice, probably because we are all grown up now, so he doesn’t want to interfere, but is more like a friend who listens!
Thanks Thuc Anh for sharing the information!
