Ministers, MPs, former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the red passports of secretaries whose compulsory retirement and contractual appointments have been cancelled, have been cancelled.
On Wednesday (August 21) night, a senior official of the Passport Directorate told RisingBD that the Security Services Department of the Ministry of Home Affairs has already ordered the Directorate to cancel the passports of all MP-ministers of the Sheikh Hasina government.
He further said that the order will be issued soon after all the processes are completed.
It is learned that once the red passports are cancelled, former ministers and parliamentarians who have criminal cases or arrests may have to go through the legal process to get normal passports. In that case, they can apply for a normal passport only after getting the court order.
On August 5, former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina left the country and sought refuge in India in the face of the student movement. Some former ministers and MPs of his government have already been arrested. Some fled abroad before the government fell to avoid arrest. Former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who took refuge in India, was a diplomatic passport or red passport holder.
