Relatives of the murdered teacher in Salvatierra, Guadalupe Barajas Piña, search groups y civil organizations They called the Judiciary of Guanajuato to ensure justice in the trial of those likely responsible for the crime.
In a press release, the Prodh Center reported that next Tuesday, August 20, 2024, the Oral Criminal Court based in Acámbaro will hand down a sentence against four people who are likely responsible for the disappearance of the young teacher.
On February 29, 2020, Lupita She was reported missing and since then, her family has been searching for her. In October of that same year, in a property located in the San Juan neighborhood, Salvatierra municipality, 80 bodies of missing persons were found distributed in 65 excavationswhere the teacher’s body was found.

Following the disappearance of his sister Lupita, Francisco Javier – along with his parents Javier and María Tránsito – dedicated himself to searching for her and other missing persons.
Allegedly as a result of his work, on May 29, 2021, he was murdered by people linked to the disappearance of his sister.
Since then, teachers Javier and María have not stopped seeking justice for their children, they were even recognized by the Front Line Defenders for this work and are displaced due to threats and violence in Guanajuato.
On July 15, the oral trial for the disappearance committed by private individuals against Guadalupe Barajas Piña began, the only case in this mass grave that has made substantive progress. For more than a month, multiple pieces of evidence were presented.
