The President of the Republic, Daniel Noboa, participated this Thursday, July 18, 2024, in the delivery of financing for development works in the provincial GAD of Los Ríos and the municipal GAD of Babahoyo.

During the event, Noboa indirectly criticized Guayaquil Mayor Aquiles Alvarez, whom his government recently accused of being linked to an alleged gasoline smuggling scheme through a family business.

Noboa stressed that sovereign guarantees allow local governments to carry out works and generate employment, just like the Government. He stressed that his priority is to serve the country and not to enrich himself through these initiatives.

In his speech, when handing over USD 10.2 million for road works in Los Ríos, Noboa said: “We don’t know if we’ll be here for one day, one month, one year, eight years, but each day and each work must be made worthwhile. I always tell my ministers that there is no prize here for the most frugal.”

The president also reaffirmed his commitment to the fight against insecurity. “It is a war not only against drug trafficking, but against the traditional political class that has hindered us and prevented progress. It is a war against oblivion, against inequality.”

Noboa concluded by saying: «“Thank God, I have already achieved my financial goals. I have earned it by working, not like other crooks who have dedicated themselves to smuggling fuel.”
