The late Alain Delon’s wish to be buried with his best friend, his dog Lubo, will not be honored by his family. This was announced by the film star’s beloved daughter Anushka, after eco-activists protested in France against the actor’s request that his pet be euthanized and buried.
During his lifetime, Alain Delon says that he took care of over 50 dogs – he even built a chapel for them in which he buried them. However, he describes the relationship with his latest – 10-year-old Belgian Shepherd Lubo – as special. “He misses me when I’m gone,” Delon points out. That’s why he used to say that if he died before him, the vet would have to put them back together. “I’d rather do that than know that he’s going to die on my grave, experiencing tremendous suffering,” the actor claimed.
After his death, however, environmental activists were outraged at the idea of putting a healthy animal to sleep and offered to find Lubo a new home. In practice, there is no law in France to restrain Delon’s desire. However, after the huge public interest, his daughter Anushka announced that the dog is part of the family and will not be put down or put up for adoption. They will take care of him.
In a rare display of unity, Delon’s three children – Anthony, Anushka and Alain-Fabien – announced their father’s death, including his dog in the announcement – a sign of the strong bond between the two.
