Climate report shows the consequences and risks of the climate crisis

by time news

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) will present the second part of its sixth status report in Geneva on Monday. In addition to the already effective consequences, it shows the further risks of global warming – but also possibilities to deal with this development through adaptation measures. The IPCC also wants to focus more on how climate protection and nature conservation are related. For all of this, 270 scientists from all over the world have dealt with thousands of studies.

As early as 2030, the earth will be 1.5 degrees Celsius warmer than in the pre-industrial age – ten years earlier than forecast in 2018: That was the drastic statement of the first part of the report, which was presented in August of the previous year. In the past 14 days, which were partly overshadowed by the Ukraine conflict, the 195 IPCC member states have now compiled the summary for political decision-makers of the approximately 4,000-page follow-up work.
