Raigarh: The body of an absconding accused in the gang rape case of a tribal girl has been found in Chhattisgarh’s Raigarh district. Chhattisgarh Police has recovered his body from the neighbouring state of Odisha. Police officials gave this information on Thursday. On the day of Rakshabandhan, 8 people had committed the crime of gang rape of a tribal girl.
Raigarh City CSP Akash Shukla said that there were a total of eight accused in this gang rape case. Out of these, seven people including a 15-year-old minor have been arrested. The eighth accused Sanjay Yadav (18) fled to Odisha to escape the police.
Died due to electrocution
Shukla said that Yadav was hiding at his maternal uncle’s place in Odisha. His maternal uncle lives in Saraipali village under Rengali police station area in Jharsuguda district. He said that he came in contact with the current laid there to protect the crops from wild animals. Due to which he died. Rengali police has reached the spot. Along with recovering the body, action is being taken against the person who laid the wire.
8 people had committed brutality
Shukla said that after the statement of the victim (27) in this case of gang rape, seven of the eight accused have been arrested and one has died. He said that among the arrested people, Rahul Chauhan (19), Monu Sahu (23), Rahul Khadiya (19), Uttam Mirdha (20), Narendra Sidar (23) and Bablu Dahriya (19) were sent to jail on judicial remand yesterday. The seventh accused (a minor of 15 years) was sent to the juvenile home on Wednesday.

On the report of the victim, the Pusaur police station has registered a case of gang-rape against eight persons under sections 70 (1), 140 (3) and 351 (3) of the Indian Penal Code, the official said.
