(ANSA) – BOLOGNA, AUGUST 22 – The Assistance and Emergency Centers (Cau), “while maintaining the good intentions underlying their institution”, are a failure and must be radically revised. Marta Evangelisti (FdI) is urging the Emilia-Romagna government to do so. In summarizing the latest difficulties encountered in the city’s emergency rooms, she also endorses the statements of two confederate unionists according to whom “the main problem, in addition to the inappropriateness of access to the emergency rooms, is linked to the lack of personnel and resources which lead to a reduction in beds and the closure of departments”.
Recalling episodes of verbal aggression, lack of beds in the medical and long-term care departments, which force patients to stay for more than 24 hours on stretchers in the Emergency Departments, and with a night-time situation that is decidedly more critical due to the closure of the Emergency Care Centers, Evangelisti, calling for “an extraordinary hiring plan with appropriate and dignified economic recognition for health professions”, urges the council to intervene so that the opening of the Cau is guaranteed 24 hours a day or “at least, the objective is pursued, as shown on the regional web page dedicated to the emergency-urgency”.
