Jennifer Lopez has filed for divorce from Ben Affleck.
The couple has officially split after two years of marriage.
According to documents obtained by TMZ, the “Jenny From the Block” singer filed legal paperwork on Tuesday at the Superior Court of Los Angeles County without an attorney.
The separation date is listed as April 26, 2024, but the day J. Lo filed for divorce is actually the second anniversary of the second ceremony they held in Georgia, which followed their first wedding ceremony in Las Vegas just two months prior.
According to TMZ, the ‘Waiting For Tonight’ singer “does not state in her documents whether there is a prenuptial agreement,” although sources have claimed to the media that there was “no prenuptial agreement” in the first place.
The couple has been the subject of speculation for some time, but Jennifer has not addressed the issue of their separation and insisted just a few months ago that there was “true love” between them.
She told the Metro newspaper: “I wrote ‘This Is Me…. Then’ when Ben and I fell in love 20 years ago and some. Fate wanted us to come back into each other’s lives. And for the 20th anniversary of ‘This Is Me… Then’, I announced that I would do ‘This Is Me… Now’. This song was inspired by the surreal miracle that happened. The fact that he came back into my life and we reunited in an unexpected way was the inspiration that drove me back into the studio. The album poured out of me. It was just something organic and beautiful, but it was absolutely inspired by this incredible second chance at true love.”
