Vilar de Mouros Festival: A Historic Musical Gathering Adjusts Lineup Amid Queens of the Stone Age Cancellation

by time news

It is the oldest music festival in Portugal, the festival that, in 1971, during the height of the fascist dictatorship, was a sort of “Woodstock” à la portuguesa. The Vilar de Mouros festival returns this Wednesday to that Minho parish, with a significant loss: Queens of the Stone Age, the first band confirmed for the lineup, were forced to cancel their appearance due to health reasons of vocalist and guitarist Josh Homme. This cancellation led to a change in logistics, with the first day, now free entry, being dedicated to Portuguese music: Delfins, Amália Hoje, GNR, Legendary Tigerman, and Fogo Frio are on the menu. Over the remaining days, names such as Die Antwoord, Soulfly, Ornatos Violeta, Moonspell, The Cult, Crystal Fighters, or The Darkness, among others, will perform. The venue will open its doors every day at 4 PM. During the four days of the festival, there will be a set by DJ Iggy on the Historical Stage, at two moments: before the doors open and at the end of the concerts.
