After 10 years of shutdown, a power station returns to work

The Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy of the government assigned by the House of Representatives announced its “success in operating a new main transformer station (400/220/30 kV) in the Si Faraj area in the city of Benghazi, after a hiatus that lasted for ten years.”

Acting Minister of Electricity Awad Al-Badri said, “This project is one of the most prominent projects to solve the problem of electrical congestion that the city suffers from.”

He stressed “the ministry’s continuation in implementing more projects to develop the electricity sector,” noting that “this achievement is the beginning of other upcoming projects. The station’s inauguration ceremony was attended by a number of officials, engineers, technicians, and social and leadership figures.”

“The re-operation of the station comes from the Ministry’s keenness to enhance the energy infrastructure, meet the increasing needs of citizens, improve the quality of electricity and reduce outages. It will serve as an important link to supply many neighborhoods in the city, such as Sayyida Aisha, Diplomatic, Presidential, Laquna, Sindbad, Souq Al-Sa’i Triangle, part of the Gardens neighborhood, Buhdeima, Al-Hawari, Al-Kish, and a number of other neighborhoods.”
